China Leather & Footwear Research Institute

China Leather and Footwear Research Institute (CLFI) is the only national comprehensive scientific research institution of leather and footwear industry in China. It was founded in 2000 by merging the former Leather Research Institute Academy of Science of Light Industry, founded in 1959, and the former Footwear Industry Research Institute of China Light Industry, founded in 1973. CLFI has made great contributions to the establishment and development of China leather and footwear industry.

The main businesses of CLFI include scientific and technological research and development, achievement transformation, industry information service, international cooperation and technical trade in leather and footwear industry. CLFI takes the leading position in the footwear comfort research, shoe last design, functional shoes material and novel shoes elastomer etc. After more than 60 years development, CLFI has

become the most powerful and influential scientific and technological innovation enterprise in China leather and footwear industry. It serves as the Science and Technology R&D Center, Information Center, Productivity Promotion Center, Engineering Technology Center, as well as the Evaluation Center for Industrial Energy Conservation and Green Development. We have taken the lead and established the National Shoemaking Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance, which is a collaborative innovation platform across the industrial chain, integrating the resources of enterprises, universities and research institutes.
